Getting started

How do I sign up?

Download Pivka from the App Store, open it, and tap Create account. Enter your email, choose a username and display name, and you're in. Sign-up is open — no invite code needed.

I forgot my password.

On the login screen, tap Forgot password and enter your email. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes.

Activities and drink logging

How do I start a night out?

Tap the + button on the home screen. Your session starts immediately — one tap and you're live. You can choose whether friends can see you're out using the visibility toggle on the start screen.

How do I log drinks?

While your session is active, tap any drink button (Beer, Shot, Wine, etc.) to log it. One tap per drink. You can also log drinks quickly from the lock screen notification without opening the app.

Can I fix my drink count after the session?

Yes. Before posting, you can add, remove, or change drinks freely. After posting, you can still edit your drink log — the activity will show an edited indicator to friends so the social record stays honest.

What happens if I don't post my activity?

After you end a session, it stays private in a pending state. You'll receive a reminder the next morning to add a photo and caption and post it. If 7 days pass without posting, the activity is automatically archived — it's never shown to anyone else, but your drink data is preserved privately in your history.

Can I add a voice note?

Yes. While a session is active or pending, tap the microphone icon to record a short voice note. It's attached to the activity and plays back in the feed for friends.

Social features

How do I tag friends in my activity?

On the post composition screen (after ending your session), tap Tag friends and select the people who were there. Only accepted friends can be tagged. Tagged friends are notified and can see and comment on your activity.

How do Cheers work?

Cheers are Pivka's version of likes. Tap the 🍻 button on any activity in the feed to cheer it. The activity owner receives a notification. You can tap the avatar stack next to the button to see everyone who cheered.

What is the active friends strip?

At the top of your feed you'll see a row of avatar bubbles showing friends who currently have an active session. Tap a friend's avatar to send them a quick 🍻 cheer — they'll get a push notification. You can send one cheer per session.

How do I find and add friends?

Tap the people icon in the top left of the feed to open the Friends screen. Search by username (minimum 2 characters) to find someone and send them a friend request. Once they accept, you'll see each other's activities in the feed.

How do I share an activity?

Tap the share icon on any activity card in the feed. A shareable card is generated — tap Share to export it as an image via the native share sheet, optimised for Instagram Stories.

Leaderboard and stats

How does the leaderboard work?

The leaderboard ranks your friends by total drinks or alcohol units over the selected period (weekly, monthly, or yearly). Tap the toggle at the top to switch between raw drink count and alcohol units. Your own position is always shown even if you're not in the top group.

Why doesn't BAC appear on my activities?

Pivka needs at least your weight to estimate BAC. Open Settings → Body stats and fill in your weight — height and biological sex improve accuracy. The estimate is hidden entirely if no weight is set. BAC is an estimate only and is not medical advice.

Account and privacy

Can other users see my body stats or email?

No. Your email address, body stats (weight, height, sex), and push notification token are completely private. Other users never see them.

How do I control whether friends see I'm out?

When starting a session, use the Let friends see you're out toggle — it's on by default. You can also toggle visibility mid-session using the eye icon on the active night screen. This setting resets to on for every new session.

How do I report a user or content?

Long-press any activity or comment to bring up the report menu. You can also block a user from their profile screen. For urgent safety issues, write directly to [email protected].

How do I delete my account?

See the dedicated account deletion instructions. All your data is removed immediately.

Technical issues

I lost drinks / photos after a crash.

Posted activities are saved on the server immediately and can always be recovered. Active sessions are stored locally until you end them — if the app crashed mid-session, contact support with the approximate time and we'll do our best to help.

I'm not receiving push notifications.

Check that notifications are enabled for Pivka in your iPhone's Settings → Notifications → Pivka. You can also toggle notifications on and off inside the app under Settings → Notifications.
